Know the Difference Between Storm Watch, Warning?

These definitions apply to thunderstorms, tornadoes and hurricanes:

If a WATCH is issued: Conditions are favorable for severe weather conditions in your area. You should remain alert for approaching storms and make preliminary preparations.

If a WARNING is issued: A storm system is approaching or has been sighted in your area. If the sky becomes threatening, move to a safe place and stay tuned to local radio stations for information.

In the event of storm-related outages, Edisto Electric Cooperative will provide information about restoration of service to local broadcast media. Of course, you can always call us for information, but our telephones lines may be busy if we have to handle large numbers of outage reports. By keeping a battery-powered radio on hand, you’ll always be able to get updates.
